Brian A. O’Callaghan
Founder & CEO
Brian founded CPI in 1996. Now, 20+ years later, he has more investment professional recruiting experience than anyone in the United States. He has helped build teams globally in 65 cities across 15 countries for investment firms of many strategies and sizes. As recruiting partner, human behaviorist, business partner and advisor, Brian helps clients analyze, build and refine human capital models through his deep knowledge of the investment industry. While managing the Firm, Brian leads and helps manage pre- and post-MBA projects.
Prior to founding CPI, Brian was a Vice President with the international real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle. Before that he was with Morgan Stanley in the Investment Banking Real Estate Group where he worked on equity and debt transactions including the firm’s purchase of its world headquarters. Brian has also been involved with several entrepreneurial ventures acting as founder, investor and advisor. He is on the national board and serves as the Chair of NYC Advisory Board for Good Sports, an organization that provides funding and equipment for children in need.
Brian graduated from Denison University with a degree in Political Science and from The Lawrenceville School. His resides in Bedford, NY, is married to Suzanne Rand O’Callaghan and has three children, Will, Jack and Maggie.
Katherine Brackendorff Boyd
Katherine joined CPI to focus on pre-MBA recruiting. Prior to joining CPI, Katherine worked as an Actuary in the Consulting Group at Towers Watson where she assisted her clients with the management and strategy of their defined benefit pension plans. While at Towers Watson, Katherine worked in both the Houston and New York offices, and also participated in the new hire training and summer internship programs. Katherine graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Accounting.
Based in San Francisco, Anna focuses on post-MBA and pre-MBA assignments for investment firms across several strategies and verticals. Anna’s post-MBA clients have included large buy-out firms, middle market, as well as first time funds. She has conducted numerous assignments for buy-side investment professionals from Vice President through Senior Partner.
Prior to joining CPI, she spent 8 years in technology investment banking in San Francisco at Robertson Stephens, Deutsche Bank and Jefferies. She managed over 30 capital raisings and M&A processes in the technology sector. Anna has 3 years of business development experience in the software industry at Comergent Technologies (acquired by Sterling Commerce) and webMethods (acquired by Software AG). Anna graduated from Whitman College with a BA in History.
Elizabeth Scott Breitner
Elizabeth focuses on post-MBA and pre-MBA recruiting for the Firm’s private equity and hedge fund clients. Prior to joining CPI, Elizabeth worked as a sales-trader in the Convertibles Group at Goldman Sachs where she managed and developed client relationships with institutional hedge funds. In addition, Elizabeth participates in the firm’s pre-MBA and Associate recruiting efforts and summer internship programs. Elizabeth graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University with a BA in History. She was a member of the University Cottage Club and a dedicated volunteer in several tutoring and mentorship programs. She is also an active alumnus of the Baldwin School and serves on the National Board of Advisors.
Sarah supports the post-MBA team with mid-level through Senior Partner level searches. Prior to CPI, she worked in customer relations for a subsidiary of US Airways.
Sarah graduated cum laude with a BS in Journalism from Northeastern University. Through the University’s cooperative education program, she worked in marketing services for The Boston Globe and Travel + Leisure magazine.
Liz focuses on pre- and post-MBA recruiting for the Firm's investment clients across several strategies. Prior to joining CPI, Liz worked at Adams Street Partners as a Partner in Account Management, where she constructed investment portfolios for the firm’s global fund offerings. While at Adams Street, Liz also held Investor Relations responsibilities, which focused on assisting clients with their private equity investments and providing fund performance reviews. Liz is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she received a BS in Accountancy, with highest honors. Liz also holds a Master of Accounting Science degree from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Allison focuses on pre-MBA and on-campus MBA recruiting for investment clients across several strategies. Prior to joining CPI, Allison worked with a pediatric hematologist at Weill Cornell Medical College/NYPH, doing clinical research with independent pharmaceutical companies. She was responsible for overseeing Phase I/II clinical studies related to a rare blood disease found in both children and adults.
Allison graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Human Development from the College of Human Ecology. She was a four year, varsity letter winner and captain of the Cornell Women's Lacrosse team. After graduating from Cornell, Allison played for NYAC Women’s Lacrosse team. She remains an active alumnus of Cornell, as well as St. Paul’s School for Girls in Maryland.
Charlotte joined CPI and focuses on pre-MBA recruiting. She graduated in 2015 from Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Prior to CPI, she worked at AQR Capital Management, where she focused on both campus and lateral hiring for the firm's Trading and Technology groups. While at Middlebury, Charlotte was a 4-year member of the Women's Varsity Squash team. She is a graduate of Deerfield Academy and Greenwich Country Day School.
Amie joined CPI to focus on pre-MBA recruiting. She is a graduate of Cornell University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Communication and a minor in Business. She was a four year, varsity letter winner on the Cornell Women's Lacrosse team. Prior to joining CPI, Amie spent two summers as a Marketing Intern for various startups, as well as interning for CPI the summer before her Senior year at Cornell. She is a graduate of The Hotchkiss School and Greenwich Country Day School.
Based in Los Angeles, Jenna focuses primarily on pre-MBA recruiting for the Firm’s west coast clients. Prior to joining CPI, Jenna worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Credit Suisse in Los Angeles, where she executed transactions across multiple industries. Jenna also participated in the company’s on-campus recruiting efforts and training programs.
Jenna graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a BS in Business Administration and a concentration in Corporate Finance.
Jaya Kirtane Hathaway
Jaya focuses on pre- and post-MBA recruiting for the Firm's investment clients across several strategies. Prior to joining CPI, Jaya worked at UBS Investment Bank as an Associate Director in the M&A Group, where she focused on sell-side and buy-side advisory engagements across multiple industries, including TMT, healthcare and power & utilities.
While at UBS, Jaya worked in both the Los Angeles and New York offices, and also participated in the company's Analyst and Associate recruiting efforts and summer internship programs. Jaya began her career at Fieldstone Private Capital Group, a boutique investment bank in New York.
Jaya received a BS in Economics, cum laude, with concentrations in Marketing and Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She also received an MBA, with honors, with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School.
Tim focuses on our administrative placement practice. Prior to joining CPI, Tim worked in the Human Capital Management division at Goldman Sachs as a Vice President focused on Securities Division talent acquisition. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Tim recruited investment professionals on behalf of hedge funds & private equity firms. Before his move into recruiting, Tim was a Vice President in Institutional Equity Sales at Wells Fargo where he covered hedge funds throughout New York and Connecticut. He began his career as an Analyst in the Equity Capital Markets Group at Bank of America where he worked on both the Industrial Origination and Equity Syndicate teams. Tim received a BA in History from the College of the Holy Cross.
Caroline focuses on pre- and post-MBA recruiting for the Firm’s investment clients across multiple strategies. Prior to joining CPI, Caroline worked at a boutique executive search firm where she focused on private equity and hedge fund searches across varying levels, industries and investment strategies. Caroline formerly worked at the Walt Disney Company in financial and strategic planning, in both California and New York. Before joining Disney, Caroline worked at the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange in both business development and regulatory capacities, at which time she passed Level 1 of the CFA exam. Caroline graduated from Providence College with a BS in Marketing. She also received an MBA with honors from the University of Southern California – Marshall School of Business.
Michelle focuses on pre-MBA recruiting as well as Real Estate recruiting at all levels. She is based in the New York office. Prior to joining CPI, Michelle worked in sales.
Michelle graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a degree in History with a focus on European History and a minor in Public Service. She also volunteered with a number of organizations ranging from mental health services, corrections and was a student teacher at local elementary schools.
Sara joined CPI as the recruiting coordinator for the Post-MBA team with mid-level through Senior Partner level searches. Prior to CPI, she worked as an administrative assistant at a Tax Lien hedge fund. Before moving to NYC, she lived in Atlanta and Paris. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in French. Sara also has past experience teaching elementary school French in Atlanta.
Renee supervises all operations for the Firm including database management, client/candidate correspondence and business development. Renee also oversees CPI's research assisting with the identification and evaluation of talent.
Renee graduated from Hofstra University with a BA in Speech Pathology and minors in Speech Communication and Sociology. She received a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at St. John's University. Renee has volunteered speech therapy services at a variety of rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and home care organizations.
Ellie joined CPI to focus on pre-MBA recruiting. She is a graduate of Middlebury College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and American Literatures and a minor in Spanish Language. Prior to joining CPI, Ellie spent two summers as an Educational Recruiting Intern at Educator’s Ally, as well as a summer as a Public Relations Intern. She is a graduate of The Taft School and Rippowam Cisqua School.
Janelle Baines Matthews
Janelle focuses on pre- and post- MBA recruiting and is based in San Francisco, covering both west and east coast clients. Prior to joining CPI, Janelle worked at TPG as an Associate in the Fundraising Group, where she focused on capital raising and investor relations efforts. Janelle began her career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Lehman Brothers in New York. During her tenure at Lehman Brothers, Janelle executed debt and equity transactions in the private market and participated in the company’s New York recruiting efforts.
Janelle graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with honors, from Pennsylvania State University with a BA in Political Science and a minor in International Studies.
Colin joined CPI to establish our Chicago office. Colin focuses on new business development and strategy, as well as conducting pre-MBA to Partner level searches for private equity firms, hedge funds, and family offices. Prior to joining CPI, she worked at Goldman Sachs for more than five years in the Private Wealth Management Group, managing portfolios for high net worth families and foundations.
Colin graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. She earned her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with a focus on Finance, Economics, and Entrepreneurship. She is an active alumna of Loyola Academy and a founding member of the school's President's Leadership Council.
Cortney focuses on post-MBA to Senior Partner level searches across multiple investment strategies and industry verticals. She also works in the Firm’s Real Estate Private Equity practice placing investment professionals at all levels. Prior to joining CPI, Cortney spent over 7 years in the financial services industry. She was most recently at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, a boutique investment bank, where she focused on servicing the private equity and hedge fund community. Prior to Houlihan Lokey, Cortney was at BlackRock and ABN Amro.
Cortney received a BS in Economics, cum laude, with concentrations in Finance and Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Jenny works with the pre-MBA team in New York. Prior to joining CPI, Jenny spent 10 years working for non-profits in the San Francisco Bay Area focusing on fundraising and project management for Transportation and Health and Human Services agencies. She has also been active in the Bay Area theatre community managing productions and events for small, local companies. Jenny graduated from Whitman College with a BA in theatre.
Jessica joined CPI to focus on pre-MBA recruiting. Prior to CPI, Jessica spent two years as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Origination & Restructuring group at Credit Suisse, focusing on executing high yield and leveraged loan transactions across all industries. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Elon University with a BSBA in Finance and a minor in Economics.
Carolina Dorson Ponzer
Carolina focuses on Associate to Senior Partner level searches and business development at CPI. Prior to CPI, Carolina worked at the Estée Lauder Companies as a marketing manager for the Clinique brand. Carolina also participated in the company's MBA on-campus recruiting efforts and summer internship programs. Carolina began her career at Paul Wilmot Communications, a public relations firm in New York.
Carolina graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University with a BA in Spanish and minors in Art History and Marketing. She also received an MBA from the Wharton School, and an MA in Latin American Studies from the Lauder Institute, both at the University of Pennsylvania. She is an active alumnus of the Spence School and Deerfield Academy.
Susan is based in San Francisco and supports the pre-MBA and post-MBA teams on searches across several investment strategies. Prior to CPI, she worked in direct sales and marketing for a Rainbow System Distributor in San Diego. Susan graduated with a BA in Psychology from San Diego State University.
Melissa Weintraub Schyberg
Melissa joined CPI with nearly 5 years of investment professional recruiting experience. At CPI, she focuses on pre-MBA and on-campus MBA recruiting for investment clients across several strategies. Prior to joining CPI, Melissa worked at a boutique search firm where she focused on pre-MBA recruiting for middle market private equity funds. Previously, she worked in the art field at a cultural start-up and was the Director of a boutique Manhattan auction house. At the beginning of her career, Melissa taught English in Japan for two years before returning to New York to join the M&A Group at Banc of America Securities.
Melissa graduated cum laude from Skidmore College with a BA in Psychology and minor in Studio Art.
Based in San Francisco, Lauren focuses on pre-MBA recruiting for investment clients across several strategies. Prior to joining CPI's San Francisco office, Lauren worked at Wells Fargo in Charlotte, NC leading recruitment efforts for the Investment Bank and Principal Investment Divisions. Previously, she spent four years in CPI's New York office focused on Pre-MBA recruiting.
Prior to joining CPI, Lauren worked at a boutique search firm where she focused on recruiting for hedge funds and private equity firms. Lauren worked in financial sales at Bloomberg in New York prior to recruiting.
Lauren graduated from Colgate University with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Communications. She played for the varsity field hockey and squash team while at Colgate. She co-lead the Colgate Charlotte Alumni Association and remains an active alumnus in San Francisco.
Taylor joined CPI to focus on pre-MBA recruiting. Prior to joining CPI, she worked as an Associate at Morgan Stanley, where she focused on business development and analysis of client metrics and strategy for the Institutional Equity Division. While at Morgan Stanley, Taylor participated in the firm's Summer Analyst recruiting efforts. She graduated from Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies.
